A sniper opened fire on a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas on Wednesday morning, killing one detainee and critically injuring two others, the Department of Homeland Security said.
The gunman, identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, killed himself. No law enforcement officers were injured.
Authorities said the shooter fired “indiscriminately,” striking detainees in a van outside the facility.
Ammunition found at the scene carried anti-ICE messages, leading the FBI to investigate the case as targeted political violence. It marks the third attack on a Texas immigration facility in recent months.
Officials across party lines condemned the shooting, urging Americans to reject extremism while warning of deepening political polarization.
