High-stakes Supreme Court rulings expected this week

The Supreme Court is set to deliver several landmark rulings this week that could reshape presidential powers, immigration, elections and civil rights.

One of the most closely watched cases challenges President Donald Trump’s order to end birthright citizenship. The court will decide whether children born in the United States remain automatically eligible for citizenship under the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. 

A ruling in Trump’s favor could affect millions of families and create major legal uncertainty. The justices are also weighing whether presidents can remove the leaders of independent federal agencies, a decision that could expand the White House's authority.

Other pending cases involve Mississippi’s mail-in ballot deadline, limits on political party spending, transgender athletes’ participation in school sports, and whether police geofence warrants violate Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches.
