A new organization and a nonprofit group have sued President Donald Trump to block
his Truth Social platform’s premium feature, which provides fast access to his posts for $100,000 a month.
The Intercept Media and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed a civil lawsuit in Manhattan alleging that Trump’s Truth Social posts often move financial markets and that he could profit from selling government information.
The suit claims the new subscription service violates the First and Fifth Amendments by giving paying customers preferential access to Trump’s public comments.
The complaint notes that since January 2025, Trump has issued between 9,000 and 11,000 posts on Truth Social, most of which are official government news.
The “Truth API” feature, announced in July, gives subscribers access to posts from 10 prominent political accounts, including President Trump, milliseconds before standard notifications reach other users.
It is priced at $100,000 per month or $60,000 per month if a company signs up for three years.
Trump Media CEO Kevin McGurn revealed that the firm has already executed over 10 customer agreements for Truth API.
