A federal judge quashed subpoenas the Justice Department issued to Fed Chair Jerome Powell tied to a probe into the central bank’s renovation project, court filings unsealed Friday show.
In an opinion unsealed yesterday, the judge said the subpoenas aimed to force Powell to cut rates or resign, noting the government presented “no evidence whatsoever” of any crime.
Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro said she plans to appeal the ruling.
