White House border czar Tom Homan has confirmed that a “small” federal security force will remain in Minnesota for a brief period following the conclusion of “Operation Metro Surge.”
The operation deployed thousands of immigration agents across the state. During the crackdown, two US civilians were shot and killed. The incidents led to large protests.
Homan said over 1,000 officers have left Minnesota. The remaining agents will stay temporarily to support local police and help maintain public safety while the situation settles.
At the same time, a federal government shutdown has delayed funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees immigration enforcement.
