President Donald Trump’s outburst came after Democratic lawmakers urged US military members to reject orders that violate the law

President Donald Trump sparked outrage Thursday after demanding the arrest of six Democratic lawmakers who appeared in a video urging US military members to reject unlawful orders.

In a series of Truth Social posts, Trump called them “traitors” and accused them of engaging in “seditious behavior,” suggesting they should be arrested.

He also reposted comments from supporters calling for them to be jailed or hanged.

His outburst came after the group, all former military or intelligence officials, posted a video reminding troops they are legally required to refuse orders that violate the law.

The Democratic members of the House and Senate never mentioned a specific order. Instead, they voiced concerns that Trump has increasingly used the military for political purposes, prompting some service members to question the legality of recent actions.

In a joint response, the lawmakers said they were restating the law and protecting the Constitution.

The White House defended Trump, calling the video misleading, while House Democratic leaders condemned his comments and contacted Capitol Police over safety concerns.
