IBM operates one of the largest fleets of quantum systems

IBM will invest $150 billion in the US over the next five years, supporting President Donald Trump’s push for local tech manufacturing.

The company plans to spend over $30 billion to expand its quantum computer and mainframe production.

IBM’s move follows similar pledges from Nvidia and Apple, who have committed around $500 billion each towards AI infrastructure in the US over the next four years.

Analysts say Big Tech is using these investments to shield against trade tensions caused by Trump’s tariffs.

IBM operates one of the largest fleets of quantum systems, which promise major computing advances.

However, experts remain split on how soon real-world use will emerge.

Last week, IBM said it lost 15 government contracts due to Trump’s cost-cutting measures, dimming its optimistic revenue outlook.
