TikTok has again raised concerns in Congress. Republican Members of Congress, set to take over the House in January, are unsure of the level of user data the app shares with China.

Top Republicans wrote to TikTok to voice their concerns and say the information provided during a staff briefing appears to be inaccurate.

The app is owned by ByteDance, which is headquartered in China.

In 2021, President Joe Biden withdrew executive orders passed by former President Trump’s administration that restricted new users from downloading the app and called for a security review.

Earlier this month, FBI director Christopher Wray stated how the Chinese government could employ the app to control devices and influence users.
