The Acme Weather app offers several alternate climate predictions alongside a primary forecast|App Store
The new Acme Weather app, by the creators of Dark Sky, is getting real about the inherent uncertainty of forecasting by offering several alternate climate predictions alongside a primary forecast.
After selling Dark Sky to Apple in 2020, which dissolved it into its own weather app, the original team has launched a successor on iOS. It says an Android model will follow.
Acme Weather integrates satellite, radar, and ground-station data, along with real-time community reports. Users can submit local conditions that appear as icons on an interactive map.
Fans of Dark Sky’s legendary alerts will find familiar territory here, as the app features highly customizable notifications. These include hyper-local rain warnings, lightning alerts, and even rainbow sightings.
After a two-week free trial, the service requires a $25 annual subscription.
