The specialized police unit that included the five Memphis officers charged with the murder of Tyre Nichols was disbanded Saturday after video of his brutal beating was released a day before.
The 29-year-old Nichols died three days later in the hospital due to his injuries.
The Scorpion unit’s purpose was to focus on frequent aggravated assaults in high-crime areas in Memphis.
