Amid strained relations between the US and China, the latter has rejected the former’s proposal for a meeting between Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu in Singapore this week, per the WSJ.

Pentagon Press Secretary, Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said the meeting refusal does not deter DOD’s “commitment to seeking open lines of communication,” with the Chinese army.
