Cuban forces shot and killed four people and injured six on a US-registered speedboat after it fired first

Cuba’s interior ministry said that the country’s forces shot and killed four people and injured six on a US-registered speedboat after it fired first, wounding a Cuban commander on Wednesday morning.

The deadly intercept occurred approximately 1 nautical mile off the coast of Villa Clara province.

Cuban authorities have launched an investigation. The incident occurs against a backdrop of continuing tensions between the US and Cuba, as President Donald Trump’s oil embargo worsens the humanitarian crisis on the island nation.
