The US is reportedly set to announce sanctions against certain Israel Defense Forces (IDF) battalions, including the “Netzah Yehuda,” for alleged human rights violations in the occupied West Bank.

The sanctions will prohibit the battalions from receiving any form of US military assistance or training, aligning with the 1997 Leahy Law, which restricts aid to foreign military units implicated in human rights abuses.

The move has stirred controversy
Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have strongly condemned the possibility of such sanctions, labeling it as absurd and morally wrong.

Previously accused of misconduct against Palestinians, the all-men Netzah Yehuda battalion is known for its ultra-Orthodox Jewish soldiers.
