White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt to step down

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is stepping down at the end of August, marking a major change for President Donald Trump’s administration.

Leavitt, 28, became the youngest person to hold the position. She plans to leave at the end of the month after giving birth to her second child, saying she felt she could not give her young children the attention they deserve while working.

She became Trump’s press secretary when he returned to office in January 2025.

The president praised her performance and said she will move into a senior outside adviser role after leaving the position.

The White House is yet to name a replacement to fill the podium.
