FIFA is turning up the entertainment for the 2026 World Cup final. For the first time, the match will feature a halftime show, much like the Super Bowl, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin and manager Phil Harvey will help pick the performers.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino called it a “historic moment.”

The final will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, temporarily renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the event.

Traditionally, World Cup halftime lasts 15 minutes, just enough time to water the pitch. FIFA hasn’t said if it will extend the break.

The 2022 final raked in 1.5 billion viewers, according to FIFA. Its new spectacle could create a global pop-culture moment like “Waka Waka!”
