Police detained over a dozen people and arrested one on Sunday after Morocco’s 2-0 unexpected win over Belgium triggered riots across the capital Brussels.

As people engaged in violent actions and damaged properties, police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Officers also closed streets and public transport, restricting the spread of attacks.

Riots broke out in Belgian and Dutch cities as fans with Moroccan immigrant roots were celebrating the team’s victory against the world number two. Neighboring country the Netherlands also witnessed riots in Rotterdam, as police attempted to manage a group of 500 fans.

In Morocco, fans celebrated the country's third-ever victory in a World Cup.

Meanwhile in Brazil
Fans appear to be a bit worried. As the FIFA World Cup intensely approaches the Round of 16, it remains to be seen how Brazil will cope with losing its star player Neymar Jr. in its crucial game with Switzerland on Monday.

The Brazilian forward went down with a lateral ligament injury on his right ankle during the team’s match with Serbia last week.
